A shrine where fishing enthusiasts gather
Because of its name, fans of black sea bream (chinu) come from all over the country to pray for safe fishing.
It is said that the main hall was rebuilt after being burned down during Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s attack on Negoro, and remains a valuable structure with features from the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
During the autumn festival that takes place every October, four huge yagura leave from Chinu-jinja Shrine and travel around the city.
