Beginners Course
A hiking course perfect for beginners.
Suwa-jina Shrine might be a small shrine situated around the mountain but it has been preserved well and and has been protected and loved by the locals.
Going a bit farther from Suwa-jinja Shrine, you will arrive at the sole damn in the city, Horigo Dam. The dam is enclosed by a row of cherry blossom trees and it has been a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing during spring. Going a bit deeper from the dam, you can experience the traditional Japanese way of living in Kisen Waiwai Village. In here, you will be able to study and observe the natural environment.

Intermediate Course
A course filled steep inclines.
The route transitions to an unpaved road in the middle so hiking shoes are recommended.
The Citizen’s Grounds is a popular spot for local insiders that features both plum and cherry blossoms. It also used as a baseball ground. The road going from the Okikumatsu Monumentis a bit steep so caution is advised. It might only be a small mountain of 333 meters, but it still garners visitors because of its connection to Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s daughter, Okiku. Look back at the Okikuyama mountain, venture deeper into the mountain paths and you’ll arrive at the side of Horigo Dam.

Advanced Course
This course is aimed at people who can walk long distances.
Starting from Sunagawa Kisho Park, you head to Kasayama Hakusan-jinja Shrine which see its roots with En no Gyoja, the founder of Shugendo. Then you pass through Aze-no-Tani with its strong connection to Negorodera Temple. The course ends with the old camping grounds, Youth’s Forest.
