Experience the way of life of wealthy farmers in the Edo period

The Yamada family were wealthy farmers who served as village heads for generations in the Edo period. The remains of one of the few wealthy farmer residences in Sennan has been well preserved. In 2002 it was registered as a tangible cultural property.
The furnishings and art within the residence are still carefully preserved, and we can imagine how people lived in those days.

The residence is open to the public on the fourth Sunday of every month (excluding december).
There are also open days in April during the Wisteria Festival in Kumano Kaido Shindachi-shuku.
