Origin of Mt. Kasayama/Hakusan-jinja Shrine

Mt. Kasayama has long attracted people due to its beautiful appearance, and has been revered as a mountain of worship. At the peak is Hakusan-jinja Shrine, a name derived from the Shugendo priest En no Gyoja.

A sea of black sea bream spreads out below

Follow the path from within Tanegawa-jinja Shrine for about 40 minutes and you will arrive at the mountaintop. From atop the summit you can see spectacular views, including a sea of black sea bream (Osaka Bay) and Kansai International Airport.

Worship the first sunrise of the year

On New Year’s Day every year, you can worship the first sunrise of the year from the mountaintop.
